Back in August 2013, Congressman John Lewis launched the March book trilogy in collaboration with co-author Andrew Aydin, and illustrator Nate Powell. Whereas March: Book One followed Congressman Lewis’ early life, he told CL back in July 2014 that March: Book Two takes place in 1960. Congressman Lewis, who at the time was 20 years old, played an important role alongside activists James Lawson, Diane Nash, and C.T. Vivian during the Nashville sit-in campaign that eventually led to the city’s restaurant desegregation.

This Sat., Jan. 31, from 2-4 p.m., Congressman Lewis, and the March team will be at Criminal Records for their first Atlanta signing for Book Two. In the meantime, you can check out Congressman Lewis and Aydin’s interview on MSNBC.

Old Fourth Ward favorite, Mother, is getting a little less hip and a little more hip replacement. That’s right, the last Thursday of the month has arrived, and brought an appreciation for dad with it. This month’s dad event, “a celebration of dads and all their dudeness and dadness,” will feature a performance by father and son duo Ivan and Trey Duke. Dashboard Co-op will receive 15 percent of the proceeds for programming and artist commissions, too. The party starts at 6 p.m., and more details can be found here.

Featured artists include Thomasa Seymour, Mandie Mitchel, Art Vandenberg, John Sumners, Tim Poe, and Mengya Jin. Opening reception will be held on Fri., Jan. 30 at 6:30 p.m. More details are available here.
