Weekend Arts Agenda: The 5th Annual Atlanta Fringe Festival June 09 2016

Plus, the return of Atlanta Zine Fest and Forward Warrior.

Five years old and getting stronger every year, Fringe Festival celebrates the local arts scene this weekend with a four day, 24-show bash. Scheduled across six venues, the festival also features free, family-friendly performances in Findley Plaza. Just as well, the similarly-free shuttle bus with its live performances makes transit as easy as it is entertaining. Featuring everything from circus to cabaret, political drama to puppetry, improv comedy and theater performances, the festival caters to all tastes. Don’t miss it.
The 5th Annual Atlanta Fringe Festival runs from 8-11 p.m. on Thurs., June 9, and Fri., June 10, from 2-11 p.m. on Sat., June 11, thru 2-5 p.m. on Sun., June 12, across Little Five Points.
It’s going to be a hot one this weekend, but that doesn’t mean you should stay at home. Atlanta, your weekend is all planned out, after the jump.

ON THURSDAY:
›› Today marks the beginning of Onion Man Productions’ most popular event, the Summer Harvest. The 2016 Harvest features three collections of original 10-minute plays, with one collection featured each month through August. ON SATURDAY:
›› DIY lovers rejoice, because today the Atlanta Zine Fest tackles the theme Digital DIY. ›› Saturday marks the beginning of the two-day Forward Warrior public art performance event. Thirty-six of Atlanta’s most progressive artists, including Carl Janes and FRKO, will be on-site painting a massive public wall on Wylie Street. Catch the entire creative process out in the open. Come early to catch one last look at last year’s display before the neighborhood revamps … yet again. 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Wylie Street.
ON SUNDAY:
