ATL Comic Profile: Tanner Inman

Image Tanner Inman is one of comedy's undiscovered gems, though Atlanta's underground scene has relished his antics for years. A fearless and unique performer, Inman is deliberately the artistic genius and village idiot all at once. Whether he's lugging a guitar case on stage to laboriously open it and take out a kazoo, reciting a two-page love letter that he wrote to a can of tuna fish, or cockily hitting on women in the audience from his patented 35 degree lean, Tanner Inman will make you laugh in an original way. When he's not on stage, Inman also writes and films sketches with local comics Jim Lehner and Alex Gardner, that can be found under squirrelsandpancakes.

Comedian Since: October, 2003

ATLien Since: 2005

A lil' joke: "I grew up pretty poor. I remember when I was a kid I got hit by a car and ended up smashing every bone in my face. Doctors had to install a plate… paper plate …used … still had baked beans and potato salad on it. Every day of my life is like a barbeque. Do you know what it’s like to make out with a girl and have her go, 'Gross! You smell like beans?' It’s no picnic. Actually it is a picnic, where ants try to steal your face."

Performs regularly at: Star Bar, Smith's Olde Bar, Relapse Theatre, Landmark Diner, Laughing Skull Lounge

Upcoming performances: The Seriously Funny Show - Tuesday, Aug. 3, Smith's Olde Bar, 9 p.m.

Rory Scovel is one of comedy's rapidly rising stars, and arguably the most original act currently working the circuit. On Saturday, Nov. 12, Scovel is bringing his Dilated Imagination Tour to Atlanta’s Relapse Theatre.

Few people will ever understand the world of stand-up comedy like Marshall Chiles. Kyle Kinane is an unmotivated, self-aware misanthrope. He's also one of the best comedians on the planet. CL recently spoke with Kinane, who will be headlining Comedy Gold at the Buckhead Theatre on Saturday, May 7, about his start in comedy, his career trajectory, and why he should be nicer to audiences.

You're performing at the Buckhead Theatre on May 7, but you also did the Star Bar last...
