ATL Comic Profile: Mia Jackson

Image
Mia Jackson may have started her career as a timid, aspiring comic in Athens’ open-mic circuit, but today she can be seen confidently performing all over Georgia. Her ability to take broad, generally playful material to any crowd and clean it up, or edge it up, as necessary, has made her one of the most sought-after comics in the city. When Mia isnt hitting the stage solo, or adding to her writing credits, she performs with friends and local comics, Sue Ryerson and Debra Cole, to comprise the all-female comedy group Mixed Nuts.

Comedian Since: August, 2002

A lil’ joke: “I’m 6 feet tall and this height is useless. I can’t do anything with it. I tried to play basketball when I was in high school but my nickname was ‘Don’t give that bitch the ball cause we’re gonna lose.’ ”
