Comic’s Weekly Roundup: David Perdue headlines WonderComedy

Comedian Olivia Cathcart makes her pick’s for the best comedy events in Atlanta

Atlanta has one of the best comedy scenes in the country, and each week is filled with plenty of opportunities to see local comics and visiting national touring acts. He’s your best bets for getting into some funny business.

? Mon., Sep. 14Tonight, it’s  Beer and Comedy Night at Sweetwater Brewery! Hosted by Joe Pettis, Beer and Comedy always packs a line-up of the best local comics with the occasional special guest. $10 gets you into the show, a souvenir pint, and beer tastings throughout the night. Shows are either in the tap room or on the patio depending on the weather; you can follow B and C on Twitterhttps://twitter.com/beerandcomedy for updates. Get there early for a good seat and to grab some food from the Sweet Auburn Food Truck that’ll be posted up in the parking lot. Doors open at 7 p.m.; show’s at 8 p.m.
?
? Tue., Sep. 15
? The new weekly showcase Happy Hour Comedy Hour is going strong into its third week. Catch this early show that starts at 7 p.m., and be home before 9. Five bucks gets you inside and a cup for endless access to the official show Bud Light keg. This week’s edition will be headlined by the very funny Yohance Collins. Doors open at 6 p.m. at Smith’s Olde Bar (in the Atlanta Room).
?
? Fri., Sep. 18
? WonderComedy, the city’s best monthly showcase, will feature one of the fastest-rising stars in the Atlanta comedy scene closing out the show, David Perdue. Perdue is a regular at Star Bar, the Laughing Skull, and the Improv. He also co-hosts the new weekly show, Happy Hour Comedy Hour, at Smith’s Olde Bar. He’s an Atlanta favorite and you’d be a fool to miss this one. The rest of the line-up includes even more local favorites including host Andrew Michael, Paige Bowman, Trey Dunn, and former ATLiens Gilbert Lawand and Jake Head! It’s the show of the week. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.; show at 9 p.m.. $5 cash at the door.
?
? >> The Laughing Skull will produce one of their Best of Atlanta Comedy showcases, hosted by Red Brick Brewing, this Friday. Twelve local comics will hit the stage and you can see them all for $15; admission also comes with six drink tickets. Friday’s show will also feature an after-show dance party in the Red Brick warehouse. Show starts at 9 p.m.
?
? On top of that, Laughing Skull will host six more Best of Atlanta Comedy shows at its Thursday through Sunday. Ten local comics will take the stage. I’d recommend making a night out of it and grab one of the many ridiculous burgers at the Vortex before catching a show.
?
? >> Over in Buckhead, Steve Bryne headlines the Improv. Byrne created and starred in the TBS sitcom “Sullivan & Son.” Bryne has performed on “The Tonight Show,” “The Late Late Show,” and more. He’s most recent special, Champion, premiered on Netflix in 2014. The comedian headlines five shows, Thursday through Saturday.
?
? >> End your Saturday the right way by going to the 1AM Secret Show at Smith’s Olde Bar. This show is an Atlanta tradition, featuring both local comics and frequent out-of-town guests. Past shows have seen drop-ins from such big names as Kyle Kinane, T.J. Miller, and Craig Robinson. The show is free and starts at ... you guessed it, 1 a.m.
