A quartet of Creative Loafing scribes will be hosting and participating in some pretty cool events this week, so come check them out, put names to faces and cheer or heckle as you see fit.

A book discussion about the new Dirty South: Outkast, Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, and the Southern rappers who reinvented hip-hop will feature CL music maestro Rodney Carmichael alongside author and CL contributor Ben Westhoff, rapper Killer Mike, writer Maurice Garland and Mr. Collipark himself, who is spotlighted in the book. More from Rodney on the event over on Crib Notes.

That will be tonight at 7 p.m. at Young Blood Gallery. Check out the Facebook event and read an excerpt from the book here.

As part of the Atlanta Film Festival, CL’s cultural critic-in-chief Curt Holman will participate in a panel called “What Every Filmmaker Needs to Know About Film Critics” on May 6 at 10 a.m. at the Landmark Midtown Art Cinema.

Also on Friday, Steve Ignorant, former singer for British punk legends Crass, will be at Criminal Records reading from his book The Rest is Propaganda before he plays a show with in Ruins at Masquerade. After the reading and before the show, CL music oracle Chad Radford will lead a Q&A with Ignorant on Stage at Criminal. Reading/Q&A begins at 7:00 p.m. and is free. Show follows at the Masquerade.
