Remember a few months back when we pointed you toward that glimmering park near City Hall East? The one with the walkway over a pond and a stone amphitheatre?

Well, that park — and the brand new parcel a few blocks south — will get an official unveiling tomorrow by Mayor Kasim Reed and Beltline and city officials. Visitors will now have access to the park’s two area: The northern parcel, which includes passive lawns, playgrounds featuring splashpads and interactive water features, and the outdoor theater overlooking the retention pond. (We’re still keeping our eyes on issues involving park access from the Beltline trail, however.) The southern parcel, which connects to the 22-mile greenspace loop, includes multi-use fields, a playground and the city’s first skatepark.

Festivities, which will include food, music and children’s activities, kick off at 10 a.m at 680 Dallas Street. Parking will be available but very limited. Officials urge people to ride MARTA bus route no. 16, which makes stops along Ralph McGill Boulevard near the park.
