Now that Election Day has come and gone, this weekend will be the time to remember the heroes who have defended our country. Here are local events to help you plan your Veterans Day weekend.

Atlanta Veterans Day Parade Celebrate Veterans Day by heading to downtown Atlanta to watch the Veterans Day Parade. The U.S. Army’s Silver Wings Parachute Team will provide a special demonstration at the conclusion of the parade at around 12:30 p.m. Free. 11:11 a.m. Sat., Nov. 10. Marietta Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony On Saturday, the city of Marietta and the Marietta Kiwanis Club invite you to honor the community’s veterans with a parade and ceremony on the square. Come and watch our troops, marching bands, floats, and drill teams. Then at noon, retired U.S. Navy Adm. James O. Ellis will give a keynote speech at Glover Park. 11 a.m. Sat,, Nov. 10. Atlanta National Veterans’ Day Run National Veterans Day Run returns to 10 cities across the United States, including Atlanta. The event is your opportunity to say “thank you” to those that have or are currently serving in the United States military. $11-$69.50. Sun., Nov. 11.
