Good news: Today an organization called the Association of Alternative Newsmedia, or AAN, released its list of award nominees. And CL, this Randian coupon site right before your very eyes, has been nominated in five categories for papers with circulations more than 50,000.

Staff Writer Rodney Carmichael snagged a nomination in the Economic Inequality reporting category for his look at the Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition, considered to be metro Atlanta’s only needle-exchange program. Art Director Wes Duvall and Graphic Design Intern Laura Zerlin’s work on the Atlanta Craft Beer Crawl was nominated for Best Editorial Layout. Photo Editor Joeff Davis’ work has once again earned a nomination. CL’s special issue guest edited by Congressman John Lewis earned a spot in the Special Issue category. And last but not least, Fresh Loaf is in the running for Staff Blog. We couldn’t have done it without you, dear commentariat.

CL’s sister papers also received nominations in multiple categories. The Nashville Scene led the pack with six nominations. The Washington City Paper and Cinncinnati CityBeat were nominated in three categories and CL Tampa is in the running for one award.

Winners will be announced on July 12 at AAN’s annual conference in Nashville.
