Bad news for those looking to get their fix of Beethoven next month. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra has announced the cancellation of orchestral performances through Nov. 8, because of ongoing labor negotiations.

“We’ve made this decision with a great deal of reluctance,” ASO President and CEO Stanley E. Romanstein in statement. “Canceling concerts is the last thing any of us wants to do, but out of respect for our patrons and the many people who play a role in producing the concerts we enjoy, we feel we have no other choice.”

If a new collective bargaining agreement can be reached between ASO management and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Players’ Association before Nov. 8, then the classical concerts scheduled will resume as quickly as possible.

These ongoing negotiations means the 2014-2015 season opener on Thur., Sept. 25 will not take place. Other subsequent shows that have been affected include Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 9” (Oct. 2, 3, and 5), Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 6” (Oct. 9 and 11), Lang Lang (Oct. 15), Ravel (Oct. 16 and 18), POPS! with Jason Alexander (Oct. 24 and 25), the Halloween Spooktacular (Oct. 25), and Grieg (Nov. 6, 7, and 8).

It is suggested that ticket-holders continue to hang on to their tickets until a possible agreement is reached. Details on ticket exchanges and refund policies are available here.
