The Atlanta Falcons stadium gets assist from SCAD

Art is coming to the home of the Dirty Birds

? The Atlanta Falcons new home is getting an artistic assist from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Mercedes-Benz Stadium is partnering with SCAD to bring commissioned, selected, and installed artworks to the home of the Dirty Birds and Atlanta United FC.
?
? The goal is for SCAD to incorporate the art into the stadium’s interior public spaces, as well as the exterior plazas. More specifically, “SCAD aims to provide a surprising and thought-provoking element to the stadium, enhance the fan and guest experience, and amplify the architectural statement of the building,” according to a release. The works included will come from local, national, and international artists, and will be installed ahead of the stadium’s 2017 opening.
?
? “We are delighted to partner with one of our ‘own’ in finishing out the interior and exterior of Mercedes-Benz Stadium,” Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC Owner Arthur Blank said a statement. “With nearly two million square feet of space, there are plenty of opportunities to further enhance this iconic building through art and memorabilia, as well as depict who we are and what our great city and state stand for.”
