“I’m a weird reader—there’s typically five or six books scattered across my desk and nightstand. The authors range from Seth Godin (Linchpin) and Thich Nhat Hanh (You Are Here) to Kurt Vonnegut (Timequake) and Stephen King (The Shining). The last book I picked up was Stephen King’s The Bazaar of Bad Dreams. It’s a collection of short stories that covers his typical territory of tales that will keep you up at night. My favorite story thus far is called ‘The Dune,’ it’s about a man who visits a small island over the course of his life where the names of those about to die mysteriously appear on the beach. My favorite feature of the book is King’s short commentary explaining where the idea for each story came from. It’s reminiscent of his memoir, On Writing. ‘The Dune’ reminded me of exploring the woods by my house as a kid looking for something magical, undiscovered, and potentially dangerous.”
