1. On Wednesday, the Georgia Senate did more in one day to disenfranchise and humiliate women and poor people than you'll do all month, including passing bills to deny birth control coverage to the state's teachers and requiring welfare recipients to pee in cups and take "personal growth" classes.
2. Not to be outdone, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell rushed to sign a hot-potato bill in his state that requires women to get ultrasounds before obtaining an abortion. An earlier version of the bill had attracted notoriety because of a provision that mandated a procedure curiously similar to rape.
3. Crazy billionaire Ted Turner gave $1 million to the Atlanta-based Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International to help save endangered gorillas in eastern Congo. At a press conference Wednesday, Turner joked he'd like to see "Two gorillas in every garage."
