First Slice 4-27-12: Insurance prices go up because insurance-type business occurred

The tops stories in Atlanta this morning.



1. I’ve never understood this. So, home insurance rates in Georgia are going up because a bunch of tornadoes last year did what tornadoes do. So, more claims, prices go up. But if that’s the case, if you’re going to raise prices when there are unforeseen natural disasters, shouldn’t we get our prices lowered when we see a few consecutive months of sunny days? Mr. Rock makes the same point in a more direct, much funnier way in the video above.

2. Yeah, the cost of the new Falcons stadium *could* exceed a billion dollars. And I *might* have a cocktail today.

3. Obama will visit troops in Georgia today. I’m sure the local talk shows are ignoring this.
