The real reason the streetcar will have free fares for another year — and cost the city around $300,000 — is not because the city is feeling generous.

No matter how much things change they always seem to stay the same. Fifty years ago, Atlanta had more riots after the officer-involved shooting of a black man. And riots broke out in Downtown in 1992 over the acquittal of officers in another case of police violence.

If you think that metro Atlanta is blowing up, you’re mistaken. The latest census report does not show metro Atlanta is growing as quickly as other parts of the country. While six of the 20 fastest growing cities in the nation are in the South, none of them are in metro Atlanta.

Bill Cosby has a message for his fans — and it’s not that he is canceling his performance on Saturday in Cobb County. Lewis Black, who is performing the night before at the same venue, says it’s “beyond belief” that the entertainer is continuing his tour. Cosby has been accused of sexually assaulting at least 40 women.

The NFL, which is giving up its tax-exempt status as a non-profit organization, will holds its draft today. The Atlanta Falcons have the eighth pick in the first round. Here is an interesting look at what happened to the NFL players who were picked 25 years ago in the first round.
