First Slice 4-5-16: Mayor Reed forbids city employees from traveling to the depths of anti-LGBT hell

And have you seen this amusement park coming to the rooftop of Ponce City Market?

The City of Atlanta continues to thumb its nose at North Carolina after the Tar Heel state’s recent passage of anti-LGBT legislation. One week after the Atlanta City Council volunteered to relieve Charlotte of its 2017 NBA All-Star Weekend hosting duties, Mayor Kasim Reed has officially prohibited city employees from any publicly-funded travel to North Carolina

Speaking of the Tar Heels, the team’s buzzer beating loss last night to Villanova in the NCAA Championship has vaulted the Crying Michael Jordan meme to think-piece status. Though present at the game, he didn’t dare shed a tear, at least not publicly.

Remember those overnight amusement parks that used to take over the parking lot of your favorite suburban mall? Well, Ponce City Market is getting one! Except it’s fancier. And permanent! Jamestown LP has signed a 10-year lease with Slater Hospitality Group to manage the 1.7-acre Skyline Park. When the rooftop amusement park opens in July it will feature miniature golf, a dunking booth, a steeplechase game, a giant slide and some ride called the Heege. It’s vintage. (Here’s a sneak peek.) Are you not amused?
