First Slice 9/19/14: Scottish voters reject independence from Britain

iPhone 6 rage at Lenox requires police intervention and Buckhead Atlanta finally opens.

Voters in Scotland rejected independence from the United Kingdom. The “no” votes came in at 55.3 percent. The pro-independence side came in with 44.7 percent.

Police were called to Lenox Square this morning around 5:30 a.m. to control the unruly crowd that had massed in anticipation of the release of the iPhone 6. Alan Waugh, the man who called the police, said, “Everybody just started trampling everyone trying to get across the street and the line went into a complete jumble. I called APD because I was afraid someone was going to get trampled on or hurt.” So people are still doing that.

Buckhead Atlanta finally opened on Thursday. It took ten years, but they did.

Susan McCoy, a Cobb County lawyer, suspects that her opposition to Cobb’s plan to issue $397 million in bonds for construction of the new Braves stadium might be the reason an arsonist tried to burn down her house early Thursday morning.
