Omnivore - Dunk your faux Oreos in tequila

The Chocolate Bar (201 W. Ponce de Leon Ave., Decatur, 404-378-0630) is about the coolest place I've visited in quite a while. Look for my review in next week's paper.

This dessert bar has two chefs who worked for Guenter Seeger, long considered the city's best chef until his restaurant closed. They create amazing desserts like the banana flambe (shown below), "Oreos" made of dark and white chocolate, caramel ganache, and bite-sized nibbles that are intense blasts of taste. You can balance the sweets with a cheese or charcuterie plate.

You'll also find martinis featuring chocolate, as well as "culinary cocktails," such as an old-fashioned made with tequila infused with serrano, lemon and cocoa oil.

The staff is friendly and enthusiastic about the novel concept.
