Omnivore - Taste of Scandinavia

Apparently, food rules this weekend.

In addition to the annual Taste of Atlanta held at Atlantic Station this Saturday and Sunday, Scandinavian food will take center stage at Oglethorpe University.

This Sat., Oct. 13, the 13th annual Scandinavian Festival brings the foods and cultures of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden to Atlanta, featuring soccer games, a raffle and live music and entertainment, including performances by Atlanta-based choir Vasa Dranger, Scandans folk-dancing troupe and the Georgia Brass Band.

Powerhouse Ikea will bring its food market and meatballs to the festival and local vendors, and the all-volunteer staff will serve Scandinavian favorites such as Danish hot dogs with remoulade and Finnish pancakes with jam and whipped cream. Scandinavian beers and soft drinks will also be available throughout the day.

Entrance is $5 and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Danish School, the Finnish Language School of Atlanta and the Swedish School of Atlanta.
