Omnivore - Man needs his goat and chicken-fried steak
A reader wants more better:
Since you do a great job covering the metro area, I hope you can help me. The Silver Skillet on 14th Street has the best chicken-fried steak I have been able to find. I am looking for better. Any suggestions?
Also, I have not been able to find stewed goat or brown rice as good as Santo Domingo’s (Buford Highway), which closed several years ago.
I’m not a big fan of goat, but I can recommend Daru Ssalam Halal (4746 Memorial Drive, 404-298-3440). Many of the Caribbean and Ethiopian restaurants around town serve it too.
I grew very fond of chicken-fried steak when I lived in Houston, but I burned out on it. I have no clue where to find it in Atlanta. (I do know that people frequently confuse country-fried steak for its chicken-fried cousin.)
Anybody have suggestions?
