I stopped by the Sugar-Coated Radical for some Valentine’s chocolate Sunday. Taria Camerino’s tiny shop was literally packed with customers and she is planning to expand into an adjoining space.

And here’s some more good news: Starting March 6, Camerino will be hosting “Bakery Sunday.” She’s rented space in Jake Rothschild’s Irwin Street Market to make pastries for sale at her shop in Virginia-Highland every Sunday. It was Camerino’s baking that first brought her to the attention of Atlanta chefs.

Rattletrap Coffee
will be supplying the java every Sunday. It’s the mobile service of Steady Hand Pour House, the coffee shop that has taken over the Octane space in Emory Village. (The owners are former Octane employees.)

Camerino’s chocolate bites were as amazing as ever Sunday. The descriptions are almost haiku-eque. For example: “Unfiltered olive oil-dark chocolate ganache/Baliniese pyramid salt” (pictured). And: “Fig/goat’s milk brie-dark chocolate ganache/Oregon fresh walnut.” Or: “White Heart. Raspberry pate de fruit/rose petal—white chocolate ganache.”

And yeah, that last piece really was half-wrapped in a rose petal (organic, of course). But, alas, like love itself, the petal wilted before it could be tasted.
