On Monday, the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) held its awards ceremony, honoring the year's best food writing, photography, design, and more. Big winners included Christine Manfield's Tasting India for Cookbook of the Year and Saveur.com for Culinary Website.
Two awards went to the Southern Foodways Alliance (SFA), the Mississippi-based nonprofit that celebrates Southern food culture through writing, documentaries, interviews, and more. SFA is particularly focused on recording oral histories and examining how personal stories intersect with food culture. They took home the prize for Intriguing Use of New Technology for their geographical oral history app, and also the prize for Best Audio Series (Short Format) for their "Gathering the Stories Behind Food" project.

Note: The SFA is all over the place, suddenly. This morning, ===Huff Post ran this short piece on their new documentary, "Pride & Joy,"=== which will premiere next September.
