Omnivore - Mid-morning snack at Westside’s Swit

Notes from the newly opened bakery/cafe

A slight detour on the way into the office brought me to the newly opened Swit Bakery and Cafe. Located in the Brickworks multi-use development (across the street from Bocado, across the parking lot from Toscano & Sons Italian Market), Swit officially opened last week; their website promising authentic European pastries, breakfast sandwiches, Croque Monsieurs, and freshly baked bread.

This morning we opted for the Manchego scone ($2, pictured below, top right), the potato latke with sour cream and dill ($2, top left), and finally the chicken sausage and feta sandwich with grilled onions and mustard on farm bread ($6.50, normally on a baguette, but at 10 a.m., they weren’t ready yet).

Swit’s dining room is sunny and inviting, with several conveniently located power outlets. With plenty of parking and an outdoor seating area, the new bakery and cafe makes for a pleasant pit stop when wandering around the Westside. According to their Facebook page, today’s specials are Cream of Leeks Soup, Berry Fruit Salad with Poppy Dressing, and a Cucumber-Tomato Salad tossed with Balsamic Vinaigrette. Swit is open Tue.-Fri.,7:30 a.m.-5:00 pm; Sat., 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Sun., 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
