Omnivore - Notes from the Atlanta Food and Wine Festival: day 2

R-r-r-RE-CAP!

For whatever reason, day two of the Atlanta Food and Wine Festival was a bit boozier than day one. After a delicious Pyrat rum daiquiri, it was straight to the Bourbon tasting trail for some Willett, Maker’s 46, and Buffalo Trace.

Buffalo Trace took the cake for best Bourbon, however, the Maker’s guys managed to maintain some steady traffic with their glass waxing station. On an un-related note, margaritas are way better with calories (#Sinless Cocktails). And even though the reps were pushing the spirit’s cocktail potential, Pisco Portón is just fine on its own.

Now onto the day’s faves:

Best bite: Corned Beef Tongue Terrine with Swiss Cheese Espuma, One Eared Stag, Inman Park

Runner-up: Huli Huli Chicken and Sesame Couscous, One Hot Mama’s, Hilton Head

Bronze medal: Cured beef “Bacon” BLT with Tomato Jam, Parish

Best sip: Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Best beer: Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan, Miss.

Runner-up: Highland Kashmir IPA, Asheville

Biggest regret: Not standing in line for The Spotted Trotter’s pork belly 15 ways!?
