Rathbun’s is gearing up to reopen after a kitchen fire in July. Nobody was injured, but the incident caused major fire, smoke, and water damage throughout the restaurant. Initially, owner Kevin Rathbun planned to complete inspections and renovations within a week. Obviously, that did not happen. Now, after nearly 12 weeks of renovations, Rathbun’s is scheduled to reopen Monday, September 23.

From the press release:

The fire has allowed us to take a look back at our last ten years in business and tweak what we thought needed to be tweaked. Or maybe update areas of the restaurant that we thought were looking worn. We have taken the golden opportunity and have given ourselves a facelift.

The “facelift” includes all new kitchen equipment, as well as new carpet in the dining room, fresh paint in both the dining room and kitchen, and a newly refinished bar.

Renovations have also worked their way into the menu. The Second Mortgage section will no longer be available, but the restaurant plans to re-introduce some of its classic recipes and revamp its cocktail options.

Rathbun’s will be open for dinner Mon.-Thurs., 5:30-10 p.m.; Fri.-Sat., 5:30-11 p.m.; and will be closed Sundays.
