Attention, guys and dolls: If you feel like puttin’ on the ritz this weekend, nab tickets to this Saturday’s Speakeasy Cocktail Festival at the Event Center at Opera, which features drinks, dancing girls, drinks, cigars, and, ahem, drinks.
This year’s “Halloween Prohibition-era Gala” features two identical sessions from 1:30-4:30 p.m. and again from 5-8 p.m. This year, 1920s-era garb is required, so bust out your Daisy Buchanan duds from the Gatsby premiere, and dust off that fedora you rocked back in your Justin Timberlake-worshipping days. Photos from last year’s inaugural fest feature lots of scantily clad women in bustiers and garter belts, so there’s that.
If you’re the gambling kind, you can play poker, blackjack, roulette, and craps, and the winners have the opportunity to win a three night stay for two at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi (with airport transportation and a private jet flight. You read that right.)
If your talents lie more with looking chic than collecting chips, fear not. You can also score that trip by looking spiffy enough to win the event’s costume contest - personally, I’m hoping for a Warren G. Harding look-alike.
You can also find the Makers & Shakers mixology competition, a Patron-sponsored tasting, a cigar lounge, live music, and burlesque-esque performances from Dangerous Curves and the Sadie Hawkins and Marilyn Chen duo. It’s much classier and more cultured than shots-and-the-strip-club.
General admission tickets are $75 and include 10 sample tabs and a glass; VIP tickets are $110 and get you those tabs, access to the Patron tasting, and an entry into that Biloxi trip. Did I mention the private jet? I think we’re copacetic.
