Omnivore - Atlanta Iron Chef Competition for Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels Atlanta’s Young Professional Board hosts an Iron Chef competition

Atlanta’s Meals on Wheels program, which celebrated 50 years of giving this year, is throwing down this Wednesday, September 30th, with an Iron Chef competition. Three of the city’s finest chefs will square off in the MOW (Meals on Wheels) newly renovated kitchen, where hundreds of thousands of fresh meals are prepared daily and delivered to home-bound or low income seniors each year.
?
? Nick Leahy, executive chef/partner of Saltyard and MOW board member, is the emcee for the evening. Judges include Kate Parham Kordsmeier, Shelley Skiles Sawyer, and our food Editor, Stephanie Dazey. Facing off are Jason Hall of Decatur’s newly opened Mason’s Tavern, Timothy Magee of Midtown’s Community Smith, and Zeb Stevenson of Buckhead’s Watershed. Critique will be based on each’s chef’s creation of an appetizer, entree, and dessert made from ingredients donated by Peachtree Road Farmers Market and Springer Mountain Farms Chicken.
?
? Chef Stevenson is no stranger to intense food competitions as a winner of of Food Network’s tv show “Chopped” in 2012 and MOW is near and dear to him. He told Creative Loafing:
?
? ?

? “For me Meals on Wheels is one of the causes that represents everything the restaurant business should be supporting. Being of aid to people through making meals accessible is something that I just won’t say ‘no’ to.” ?
?

?Tickets to the match are available here for $40 and each strengthens MOW’s mission: “To support senior independence through meals, shelter, education and community.” Iron Chef begins at 7 P.M. For more information: www.mealsonwheelsatlanta.org
