Omnivore - David Sweeney pops up at Octane in December

ATL’s unofficial ‘King of Pop-ups’ makes happy hour happier all next month

 Groupies, prepare to assemble. The former chef/owner of the long-gone-but-never-forgotten Dynamic Dish will be cooking at Octane Grant Park (437 Memorial Drive S.E., 404-348-4797. www.octanecoffee.com) throughout the month of December. Beginning Tues., Dec. 1 through Wed., Dec. 23, Mr. Sweeney will be in the house serving up holiday happy hour bites Monday through Friday, from 5 to 10 p.m.

? This time around, Sweeney’s Holiday Hors d’Oevres and Canapes menu will include an assortment of four to five canapés each night. We don’t know about you, but we’re crossing our fingers that the King of Pop-Ups (our words, not his) will bring back his cashew cream-filled Belgian endive leaves with shiitake bacon. And maybe even some of those crazy kale chips he’s got half the town addicted to.

? Additionally, Octane’s bartenders will be pairing Sweeney’s eats with wintery cocktails, and, Sweeney says, “hopefully some bubbly.”

? If you don’t want to miss out, make sure you prepare a strategy for attending these events. You know how it is with Sweeney pop-ups in the A: If he cooks it, they (as in everybody and their mothers) will probably come.
