Tips

What are your thrifting/bargain hunting tips?

Find a great tailor and pay attention to the details (buttons, stitching, fabric) because quality is timeless and fit is essential.

What’s your favorite vintage purchase?

Early ’80s Brooks Brothers “Polo” camel hair overcoat stands out the most.

Best place to score vintage in Atlanta?

Favorite thrift shops:

Cathedral of Saint Philip Thrift, 1837 Piedmont Ave. 404-876-5440

Salvation Army, 746 Marietta St. 404-523-6214

Goodwill, 3337 Buford Highway, Suite 340A.

Resale/Vintage:

Ragorama, 1111 Euclid Ave. 404-658-1988

What is your style philosophy?

Know what works for you. Fashion tries, style is natural.

What do you regret buying? Not buying?

I’m way too picky and usually don’t shop for vintage clothes with a price tag large enough to give me buyer’s remorse. I do, however, regret not recently buying an old LL Bean leather barracuda jacket at Last Chance.

How has Atlanta influenced your personal style?

From a supply level, Atlanta has seriously influenced my style. There’s such a rich history of classic men’s stores in Atlanta, which helps with the local thrift inventory. My favorite finds are often vintage pieces from Muse’s, H. Stockton, Buckhead Men’s Shop, and Britches of Georgetown.

What do you like about wearing vintage clothes?

I enjoy the shopping and perusing of thrift shops as much as actually wearing vintage clothing. A thrift store/vintage store can serve both as a clothing history book and an inspiration board. Aesthetically, vintage is not important me. I love well-made, timeless clothing, whether it be from 2010 or 1966.

What single article of clothing could you not live without?

Blue Oxford shirt
