Neighborhoods - Little Five Points

Situated a few miles east of downtown at the intersections of Euclid, Moreland, McLendon, and what used to be Seminole avenues, Little Five Points is Atlanta’s version of Haight-Ashbury, pressed into a two-and-a-half-mile area like a jigsaw puzzle piece. With a variety of independently owned boutique shops, restaurants, bars, and music venues, Bohemian culture and DIY capitalism are the backbone for this neighborhood that caters to everyone from urbane hipsters to beard-o street urchins. But most of all, this is where you’ll find the best record shopping, coffee sipping, and people watching anywhere inside the Perimeter.

Things to do in Little Five Points

Witness the Elvis vault

Tucked away in an unassuming corner inside the Star Bar lies a hidden shrine to the King of Kings, Elvis Presley, complete with an altar and throne. If you need a break from the band on stage, and the lounge downstairs is too full, step to the side and pay a visit to the King.

Watch soccer at the Brewhouse Café

Hooligans unite! This British-style pub pipes in soccer from around the world pretty much year-round. But when English Premier League is in season, this is the place to be.

Take sides in Aurora Coffee vs. Java Lords

There are two kinds of people in L5P, those who drink coffee at Aurora (the middle-aged, motivated hipster professionals), and those who go to Java Lords (younger, grimier, urban Bohemian poser types).

Join the battle between Wax n’ Facts vs. Criminal Records

These are the record-shopping staples of L5P. Wax n’ Facts is for the crate diggers who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty. Criminal carries a wide array of new, mostly independent releases. You can’t really hit up one without dropping by the other. Note: If you’re in the mood for a good comic book, Criminal’s selection is the best in town.

Shop at Junkman’s Daughter

If anything, L5P is a place to go shopping. The vibrant blue, tattooed storefront in the heart of the neighborhood is the Walmart for the counter culture. Stop here for your pipes, T-shirts, knickknacks, women’s clothing, men’s clothing, stripper shoes, et al.

Peep kicks at Wish

This is your one-stop shop for the newest, latest, limited-edition sneakers. Get there early, the line can be a little long on release day.

See a show at Variety Playhouse

This World War II era art deco movie theater-turned-music venue is one of the city’s premier mid-sized concert halls that plays host to everything from rock ‘n’ roll to country, folk, jam bands, bluegrass, jazz, etc. It’s also one of the most comfortable places around to take in a show.

Suck down a smoothie at Arden’s Garden

Founded by local juice lady Arden Zinn, this Atlanta original is home to the tastiest, and the healthiest, fruit smoothie concoctions you’re going to find anywhere. And if you’re feeling a bit under the weather, do yourself a favor and try a hot shot. It’s rough going down, but it will cure what ails you.

Chow down at Elmyr

It’s a burrito bar! What else do you need to know? The guacamole is basically its own food group, and if you hang out here long enough you may find yourself doing shots with one if not all of the guys from Mastodon.

Imbibe at Euclid Avenue Yacht Club

This is where you go when you want to escape the tourists. With its lived-in and somewhat nautically themed décor, the Yacht Club is where the locals go for cheap drinks and good company.
