College Humor reveals 'The Places You'll Actually Go!"

Good job, Internet: Those snarky youngsters at CollegeHumor have produced a fairly ingenious animated satire of Dr. Seuss's famed Oh, The Places You'll Go! I feel obliged to point out that the original picturebook (the last book published before the death of Dr. Seuss, a.k.a. Theodore Geisel) isn't as rosy as the spoof suggests: the plucky little protagonist spends time alone, lingers in The Waiting Place and gets stuck in a Slump. By the end, the book promises "Will you succeed? Yes, you will indeed. (98 3/4% guaranteed.)" So don't forget about that last one and a quarter percent.

It was a warning, essentially, that technology, no matter how much it makes life easier, also has an uncanny ability to strip away the essence of the human experience in ways that are difficult to detect before... | more...
