International Sailor Moon Day Atlanta

Anime Weekend Atlanta hosts the largest gathering of Sailor Scouts in one place this city has ever scene (and maybe a Tuxedo Mask or two). The Southern Senshi Squad cosplay group will even grace the bandstand. AWA will provide drinks, so guests are encouraged to bring sustenance for themselves or others. Drag along Luna, Artemis and Diana for extra points.

Watermelonpalloozza 2017

5 Seasons Brewing Company - Westside - 1000 Marietta St. N.W. Atlanta, GA 30318 Noon.

Treat yourself to a midsummer refresh with beer and food made from organic Georgia watermelons. The menu includes grilled chicken wings with watermelon and habanero glaze, coldwater oysters with watermelon cocktail sorbet, “BLW” Sliders with 5made Bacon, Thai-style watermelon rind salad, watermelon snow cones for the whole family and much more. After a few pours of the brewery’s annual watermelon beer, consider participating in watermelon games, including a watermelon smashing contest.

ArtWalk West End

For July’s ArtWalk, West End Performance Arts Center, Gallery 992, Hammonds House, Tassili’s Raw Reality and 640 West open their doors to the public. Enjoy the works of local artists, live music, DJs, fresh coffee and and healthy bites. End the day with a viewing of West End Performance Center’s debut piece.

Activate ATL is a concert celebration to honor the folks who hold the power for change. Atlanta-based bands and artists will celebrate the power to lead the city through voting and committing to community issues. Activate ATL pays tribute to all who work toward creating the best Atlanta possible and intentionally highlights the power of artists and arts workers, who often work at the center of issues affecting the city.

Foodies can delight in Parlor’s first group art show. Parlor is literally in a parlor, more specifically the Midtown home of Katie Troisi, who has been displaying local artists’ work there since last October. The gallery ensures that more than 50 percent of featured artists are female, and the work is always for sale at affordable prices. By highlighting the work of new mostly new artists, Parlor hopes to give them beneficial publicity and experience. In ́ la carte, the rooms of Troisi’s home will be covered in paintings of hamburgers, photos of favorite local restaurants, sculptures of frosted cakes and so much more. The exhibit will feature over 30 local artists including Julio Ceballos, Cornelia Hemingway, Yoon Nam and Lydia Day. Experience all the comforts of home, while looking at some truly delicious artwork.
