AJFF Selects: Monkey Business: The Curious Adventures Of George

Atlanta Jewish Film Festival selection Monkey Business: The Curious Adventures Of George chronicles the life of the couple behind Curious George. Hans and Margret Rey fled Germany’s Nazi regime carrying the unpublished manuscript that would introduce the world to a classic character. The mixed-media documentary follows the couple’s journey out of Europe to Brazil and eventually New York City.

 

NT Live: Angels in America

Landmark Midtown Art Cinema - 931 Monroe Drive N.E., Midtown Promenade Atlanta, GA 30308 $15. 7 p.m.

Landmark screens the first part of the National Theatre’s performance of Angels in America. This culturally significant play takes place in the 1980s amid the height of the AIDS epidemic and Reagan administration’s blind eye toward it. Playwright Tony Kushner’s script addresses sexuality, identity, death and love.
