Deer Tick, Chris Cofton

Terminal West - 887 West Marietta St. N.W. Atlanta, GA 30318 $20-$25. 8 p.m.

Following a three-year hiatus, Providence, Rhode Island’s Deer Tick is coming out swinging. On Sept. 15, the bar band-come-folk act releases two new studio albums, Deer Tick Vol. 1 and Deer Tick Vol. 2 (Partisan), a pair of records reflecting their affinity for both the tender and the raucous. Vol. 1, a strictly acoustic collection of 10 songs, features frontman John McCauley’s signature nasal crooning atop thoughtful yet wry folk tunes. Meanwhile, Vol. 2 charges out of the gate with gritty, dexterous stompers, reminiscent of the group’s live performances and occasional turns as Deervana, a Nirvana cover band. Their Sept. 19 stop on the Twice Is Nice: An Evening With Deer Tick show will include two sets, one acoustic and one electric, and feature songs from their entire discography and, most likely, a sing-along friendly cover or two.
