5 things to do: Ladyfest 2017 - September 29 2017

What’s happening in Atlanta today

Ladyfest

368 Ponce - 368 Ponce de Leon Ave. N.E. Atlanta, GA 30308 Free-$35. 11 a.m.

The first Ladyfest took place in 2000 in Olympia, Washington, and raised more than $30,000 for local women-led organizations and projects. Its mission was to celebrate and encourage the “artistic, organizational and political work and talents of women.” Fifteen years later, volunteers organized the first ever Ladyfest in Atlanta. Since 2015, Ladyfest Atlanta has followed in the footsteps of Ladyfest Olympia and created intentional queer and feminist spaces for women and gender non-conforming people in Atlanta. Ladyfest Atlanta 2017 will return for a packed one-day-only festival with galleries, discussions, workshops and film screenings. Atlanta City Council District Candidate Liliana Bakhtiari will be at the festival to talk about her platform, and ChopItUp ATL’s Quianah Upton will host a ticketed brunch panel.
