Raekwon, Sa-Roc, Dope KNife, Devin Malek, Javar Rockamore

The Masquerade - 75 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive S.W. Atlanta, GA 30303 $23. 7 p.m.

Corey Woods, the man who’s best known by most as Raekwon da Chef, left an indelible mark on hip-hop culture as one of the most formidable foot soldiers of the Wu-Tang Clan. This year, Raekwon dropped his seventh solo album, The Wild, a lean, razor-sharp return that breaks free from the drugs and organized crime motif that’s defined his work since the arrival of 1995’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. In songs such as “This Is What It Comes Too,” “Marvin” and “Visiting Hour” adulthood experience and maturity guide his words. He may be a parental figure now, but he’s still da Chef protect ya neck.

BRIG TV: 80’s

Argosy - 470 Flat Shoals Ave. S.E. Atlanta, GA 30316 Free. 8 p.m.

Argosy’s Brigantine Beer Parlor and Recreation Hall is bringing back the ’80s with a night of ’80s music videos, screened on the BRIG screen. Dancing is encouraged.

News Flash

The Village Theatre - 349 Decatur St. S.E., Suite L Atlanta, GA 30312 $5. 8:30 p.m.

Life isn’t a competition, but we all have a little competitive streak in us. It’s a battle of wits and cheeky retorts at News Flash. Six comedians, including Samm Severin and three-time champ Julian Modugno, will duke it out in a head-to-head tournament where they will write topical jokes based on the best and most bizarre news headlines. It’s just like “SNL“‘s Weekend Update except this one actually gets better with age. This monthly show also features traditional stand-up between rounds making for a hybrid showcase unlike any other in town. Thursday is the new Saturday, so make your plans accordingly.
