The Brooklyn-based trio brings house music to life on June 11

Folks who think that house music is nothing more than a cold, soulless and strictly electronic genre have probably never heard of Tortured Soul. The Brooklyn-based trio (currently consisting of drummer/lead vocalist John-Christian Urich, bassist Jordan Scannella and keyboardist Isamu McGregor) has been taking its brand of house built on the foundation of live instrumentation and not computers to audiences around the world since 2004. And when the group makes its return to Atlanta, the members will be bumping their catalog of soulful, beat-heavy hits, including their latest single “U Live 2 Far Away.” Opening and closing turntable sets by ATL’s own DJ Kemit.

$20-$35. Sun., June 11. City Winery, 650 North Ave. N.E., Suite 201, Ponce City Market. 404-WINERY1. www.citywinery.com/atlanta.
