Quick Bites: Rose + Rye comes to the Midtown castle, Donetto opens in Westside, Bar Mercado adds brunch and more

Sara HannaThere is something new coming to the castle on 15th Street in Midtown. This October, it will reopen as Rose + Rye, a restaurant and bar with three levels and multiple outdoor patios. From owner Thaddeus Keefe (1KEPT, Tuk Tuk Thai, Mosaic), the concept will be led by an all-women culinary and management team, including executive chef Lindsay Owens from Minneapolis (The Lynhall, Tilia, Unideli, Creamery Caf̩) and sous chef Anu Adebara (Avalon Catering). The Ferdinand McMillan mansion, built in 1910 and once called Fort Peace, is listed on the Georgia Register of Historic places and has been vacant for many years. Rose + Rye will begin with dinner, adding lunch to their offerings in November and brunch to follow.
onetto, a Tuscan restaurant using classic local ingredients, opens today, Sept. 29 at the Stockyards Atlanta development in Westside. Led by executive chef and partner Mike Perez, the concept comes from Indigo Road Restaurant Group, the company behind O-Ku, Oak Steakhouse and Colletta, where Perez worked previously. The pasta-centered menu will also include items like crispy fried rabbit, whole roasted fish and bone marrow pasticciotto.
Krog Street Market's newest hot spot Bar Mercado opens for lunch and Sunday brunch beginning this Sat., Sept. 30. The regular dinner menu will be available 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays. On Sundays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., an additional brunch menu with huevos benedict, brioche French toast and $15 bottomless cocktails is also offered. We're digging on the promise of tostada de aguacate, avocado toast topped with soprassada, scrambled eggs and shiitakes.
Second Self Beer Company's A.T.aLe cans have a new look for the month of October. To celebrate Atlanta Pride Festival, the cans will be enrobed in rainbow print through the month. The cans debut at Second Self's three-year anniversary party on Sat., Oct. 7 in the taproom (1317 Logan Circle NE).
We are cheering on chef Drew Van Leuvan of Seven Lamps. This Sun., Oct. 1, he represents Atlanta at Grand Cochon in Chicago. The 14 winners of each Cochon 555 heritage pork competition cook to reveal the ultimate "King or Queen of Porc."
Hot diggity! This Saturday's hot dog chef at The Helpful Hotdog at Ponce City Market is Hugh Acheson. He will be slinging his Crunch Dog, with radish slaw, potato crisps, fermented chili oil and grated egg yolk at the Beltline entrance beginning at 12 p.m. All proceeds benefit Seed Life Skills.
Molly B's, named in honor of Arthur Blank's mom, begins lunch service this Saturday, 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m., seven days a week. Michael Bertozzi, also executive chef at TWO Urban Licks, created the menu. Nosh on tuna poke, brisket sandwiches and buttermilk fried chicken wings at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium restaurant even on non-event days.

Sweet Water Brewery has a new dank tank brew ready for release. Visit the brewery on Sun., Oct. 8, to taste Fresh Stick Nugs hazy imperial IPA from 12:30 to 8 p.m. Royal Pig BBQ truck will be on site for bites to go along with the "super fresh, super sticky, and straight from the farm hops" beer.
Newk's Eatery is now open at Tucker's new Meridian Plaza (4280 LaVista Rd.). The plaza also includes a Sprouts Market and Nothing Bundt Cakes bakery.
On Sun., Oct. 1, Inman Park's Victory Sandwich Bar hosts the first can celebration for Hapeville's Arches Brewing. Soon the pretty cans of Queen's Weiss Hefeweizen and Southern Bel' will be available at a couple hundred package stores and bars in Atlanta. Celebrations will follow at Southbound, Hop City, Ale Yeah!, Georgia Beer Garden and JCT Kitchen.
