Favorite style icon?

Can I make a starting five?
Coach: Karl Lagerfeld

  • Point guard: Zeus Trappin’ (myself)
  • Shooting guard: Andre 3000
  • Small forward: Fela Kuti
  • Power forward: Mad Max from shottas
  • Center: Michael Jackson

Designer, thrift or both?

All of the above. You like to eat from all parts of the food chain.

What inspires your style?

Life others and mine especially. I’m inspired by growth and progression. Life is the epitome of that. ??_ We all start off small, some grow faster than the others, some grow thicker and last longer. But, nevertheless, we all start from somewhere and progress into greater beings.

Nicole Sullivan, creative director, and Michel’le, creative strategist

What inspires your style?

Michel’le: Being fabulous inspires me to dress fabulous every day.

Nicole: A handful of eras definitely seep into my everyday wardrobe, even when I don’t plan on it. I have a tendency to mix and match and love a good pair of flares, jumper or mod mini skirt; what was quintessentially the ’60s and ’70s. What young women wore then and the attitude that came with it inspires me the most.

Favorite style icon?

M: Donna Summer, Cher, Debbie Harry, Tracee Ellis Ross, to name a few.

N: Betty Davis, Julia Sarr-Jamois and Gilda Ambrosio. I often switch from an androgynous look throughout the week to something sheer or backless for a cocktail on the weekends. I pay tribute to them.

What’s the perfect outfit for you?

M: A pair of baggy pants and a crop top or oversized top (if I’m going to go eat) and a heel.

N: The perfect outfit for me would be a combination of some type of exotic skin (faux or genuine), an ex boyfriend’s T-shirt, huge silver jewelry and a good trouser. This is my uniform.

How would you describe your style?

I would describe my style as timeless. Whatever I wear is not out of style. It’s very simple, and if I don’t feel great about it, then I’m not putting it on.

Favorite item in your closet?

My green jacket that I thrift because it goes with almost everything; it’s a nice Kelly green, and I get a lot of compliments on it.

Favorite style icon?

I don’t have a specific style icon, but anyone who can just rock what they’re wearing and making it into their own, I admire. Like even if it’s just some random person on the street.

Designer, thrift or both?

Both designer and thrift but my lifestyle can only take thrift right now.
