PIED PIPER: Nik Turner of Hawkwind.

Nik Turner is a space rock god among men.

Hawkwind’s contentious founder Dave Brock may own legal rights to the group’s name, but Turner possesses its spirit. Since parting ways with Hawkwind for the first time circa 1976, Turner has traversed the globe like a psychedelic Pied Piper. At 77 years old he’s still whipping crowds into a frenzy by unleashing hallucinogenic flute and saxophone blasts, while UK Subs guitarist Nicky Garratt adds muscle to Hawkwind’s older and newer numbers alike.

For this Halloween performance, the group’s lineup also features keyboards and vocals by Kim Jai Young of Secret Chiefs 3, bass player Doc Miller, and drummer John Thomas.

Classic Hawkwind numbers such as “Silver Machine’ meld with the more recent “Fallen Angel STS-51-L’ from 2013’s Space Gypsy, and the bombastic trip into the cosmos, “End Of the World,’ from his latest album, Life In Space.

With Hedersleben. $12. 8:30 p.m. Tues., Oct. 31. The Earl, 488 Flat Shoals Ave. S.E. 404-522-3950. www.badearl.com.
