Cathy Woolard on Texas attack: ‘It’s time to talk about gun reform’

‘Our residents are worried about the gun violence that happens on a regular basis’

Mayoral candidate Cathy Woolard says the time is now to discuss “common sense gun law reform.”

In the past 35 days, two of the five deadliest massacres in modern American history were carried out by armed attackers. More than 50 people were slaughtered by a gunman with a rediculous arsenal in Las Vegas. More than two dozen were slain by the shooter in yesterday’s attack on a small town Texas church.

Read Woolard’s emailed statement below:

“It’s heartbreaking to see another community devastated by senseless violence.

“I’ve spent time at the Capitol working to defeat our ‘Guns Everywhere’ bill. Our ‘campus carry’ bill leaves people on campuses more vulnerable than not. And our residents are worried about the gun violence that happens here on a regular basis. Our president and others in Washington keep saying now is not the time to talk about gun laws. Now is the exact time to talk about and enact common sense gun law reform.”
