Georgia Dems snag some state House seats

The vacant posts used to be manned by Republicans

Gold DomeJoeff Davis/CL fileGeorgia voters just drafted two Democrats to the state House, a move that shifts some power to the left side of the Republican-dominated Legislature.

Deborah Gonzales will take hold of the District 117 seat, the vacant Athens area post previously filled by Republican Rep. Regina Quick. In the nearby District 119, Jonathan Wallace won Tuesday’s special election to take the chair once inhabited by the GOP’s Rep. Charles Williams.
