Beltline JoeffJoeff Davis/CL fileLast Tuesday’s terror attack in Manhattan has Atlantans abuzz about the potential for similar incidents to occur close to home.

The New York City bike path that hosted last week’s violent act is reminding locals of a comparable stretch of concrete frequently packed with pedestrians: The Atlanta Beltline.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal said Wednesday that an assault on Beltline-users is very much “a possibility” and “almost impossible to predict,” according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Atlanta police say they’re monitoring and studying vehicular attacks around the globe, and Beltline CEO Brian McGowan says metal bollards at the trail’s entry points should quell some fear of ease-of-access for a potential assailants.
