In a report published yesterday, the Wall Street Journal chronicled the trials of longtime Kirkwood residents who are worried that major development trends will soon yank them from their homes. The story uses the eastern Atlanta neighborhood to illustrate the widespread concerns of rising property values and the property tax hikes that tend to follow.

The article also offers insight to the importance of addressing and even combating gentrification, especially for Atlanta’s two mayoral candidates, Councilwomen Keisha Lance Bottoms and Mary Norwood.
