State Rep. David Dreyer added to #ActivateATL speaker lineup

C4 Atlanta prompts locals to get out and vote in November’s mayoral and city council elections

In preparation for Atlanta’s upcoming elections in November, when voters will choose a new mayor, a new City Council president and at least eight City Council members, C4 Atlanta is hosting a free concert, dubbed #ActivateATL. On Sat., Aug. 5, jazz singer/songwriter Chantae Cann and local six-piece Little Tybee will co-headline the Masquerade’s stage, joined by featured speakers Nse Ufot of the New Georgia Project and, recently announced, State Rep. David Dreyer.

“In our country, no matter how much you make, where you’re from, what you look like, or who you love, you have the right to speak about issues that matter to you,” Dreyer said in a press release. “And the more that everyone votes and speaks, the better our country will be.”

Placing prominence on constitutional law and voter rights, Dreyer was elected as state representative for house district 59 in 2016. He joins New Georgia Project Executive Director Nse Ufot to speak to encourage Atlantans to register, vote and participate in local elections.

“It is often said that culture eats strategy for breakfast,” Ufot said in a press release. “When culture and strategy combine, you get beautiful events like #ActivateATL where creatives sketch, chant, dance, and organize a future where all communities are represented.”

  1. ActivateATL is a celebration of the power to change communities through local elections, featuring live music, speakers and voting information for attendees. Tickets are free with an online pledge to vote.

Little Tybee and Chantae Cann play the Masquerade on Sat., Aug. 5. Doors open at 7 p.m. Show starts at 8 p.m. 75 MLK Jr Dr. S.W. 404-577-8178. www.masq.com.
