Drummer and Allman Brothers Band co-founder Butch Trucks brings the Freight Train to town for a rare live appearance on Tues., Jan. 3. Ever since the Allman Brothers took their final bow on stage in 2014 Trucks has spent much of his time building a new life for himself in France. Still home from this year’s Christmas/New Years jaunt across the pond, the Jacksonville, Florida native is on the road leading his Second Annual Holiday Tour. Trucks, along with a cast of musicians including guitarists Damon Fowler and Chris Vitarello, keyboard player Bruce Katz, bass player Matt Walker, percussionist Garrett Dawson, and singer and guitarist Heather Gillis play more than two hours of Allman Brothers music, along with a handful of other classic numbers. It’s an evening of old school Southern rock to ring in the New Year.

Donna the Buffalo and Butch Trucks and the Freight Train Band. $32-$45. 8 p.m. Tues., Jan. 3. City Winery, 650 North Ave., Ponce City Market. 404-WINERY1. www.citywinery.com/atlanta.
