SEE & DO: Charolastra plays 529

Despite fusing everything from dub music to hip-hop and drum 'n' bass, Peter Roglin's music never feels too busy

It’s difficult to define a singular headspace from which Peter Roglin’s ideas arise. Despite fusing everything from dub and ambient music to hip-hop and drum ‘n bass, Roglin’s Charolastra project has never felt busy. And yet, his 9th and most sample-driven album, Much Disrespect, feels more claustrophobic; a real head spinner. But the music takes on a life of its own. It’s meticulously designed, with a profound sense of melancholy. As such, it’s easy to get lost inside, and not want to escape.
