5 things to do: GA General Assembly 2018

What's going on around ATL.

The big game is here as the Georgia Bulldogs take on the Alabama Tide, and with ticket prices the highest in National Championship history, JCT. Kitchen wants to make sure all fans feel as close to the action as possible. THIS Monday, January 8, starting at 4 p.m., join us – with no entry charge– for some all-American football projected on a big screen alongside tailgating favorites. In addition to the Upstairs bar menu including deviled eggs ($5), truffle parmesan fries ($9), spicy sorghum sticky wings ($8) and bucket of chicken (prices vary), we will also be adding a few specials to enjoy while watching the game. Atlanta Songwriters Club Meet Up

Red Light Cafe - 553 Amsterdam Ave. N.E. Atlanta, GA 30306 $5. 8 p.m.

Guests are invited to Atlanta Songwriters Club Meet Up at Red Light Café, every second and fourth Mondays of the month! $5 at the door, starts at 8PM, and you can sign up to play a song if you’d like when you get here.

Quilting 101

Fabricate Studio - 1537 Howell Mill Road, Atlanta, GA 30318 $110. 7 p.m.

The modern quilting movement has hit Atlanta! Join us at Fabricate to learn the basics and make a charming quilt.

Cost: $110 course fee, includes 5 hours of instruction and some supplies.

Prerequisite: This class assumes that you’ve completed our Sewing 102 course or have similar skills

What you’ll learn: fabric preparation, ironing do’s and don’ts, seam allowance, strip piecing/chain piecing, layering, basting and machine quilting

Grand Opening /Championship Watch Party

New Realm Brewing, 550 Somerset Terrace N.E. Unit 101, Atlanta, Georgia 30306 Free. 5 p.m.

Doors open at 5 p.m. Guests are invited to watch the game on one of multiple T.V.s. Visitors can be one of the first for Mitch Steele’s full lauch lineup of house-brewed beers and Chef Julio’s brewery-inspired menu full of global flavors.
