SEE & DO: SPARK Saturdays: Family Ties - Issue Date May 09 2017

Celebrate diversity in family structures with a day of carnival-like games and activities

No value assignedThe charming story of a lovely lady who met a man named Brady, each with three kids of their own, has reminded us for decades that definitions of bfamilyb are about as concrete as Jell-O. The May edition of SPARK Saturday honors families and all the forms they take. Step-parents, play parents, single parents and all parents in between can celebrate diversity in family structures with a day of carnival-like games and activities with their kids. Youngbuns can create their own family tree or collage, and families can work together to construct their very own family home. Free with museum admission. Noon-3 p.m. Sat., May 13. National Center for Civil and Human Rights, 100 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. N.W. 678-999-8990. www.civilandhumanrights.org.
