Buford Highway Vietnamese restaurant Chateau Saigon closed quietly this past week with its last service on Sun., May 7. In aB Facebook statement, the restaurant said, bAfter more than a decade on Buford Highway, we are sad to announce that we will be shutting our doors.b

The team that created Decaturbs Brush Sushi Izakaya is opening a new venture in Midtownbs Modera by Mill Creek mixed-use community.B Momonoki,B which means bPeachtreeb in Japanese, will open in late 2017. The restaurantbs menu features a variety of donburi (bowls of fish, meat, and vegetables over rice), ramen, and Japanese small bites. A separate space with a walk-up counter will serve coffee, matcha-based drinks and Japanese pastries and desserts.

A second location ofB Jakebs Ice CreamB is opening soon. The teensy East Point parlor is taking a 200-square-foot spot at 1650 Washington Rd. It is slated to open in mid-June b just in time for prime ice cream season.

Mariettabs favorite landmark and tourist attraction, KFCbsB The Big ChickenB opened Thurs., May 11 after a $2.2 million renovation. The 56-foot steel chicken with rolling eyes and a moving beak was first constructed in the 1960s. Today, the renovated KFC boasts two patios.

Therebs a new paleta in town. Birmingham-based gourmet popsicle concept Steel City Pops is opening its first outpost in Atlanta. The concept plans to set up shop in the 3,500 square foot space initially slated for Guy Wongbs Big Boss Chinese restaurant, at 312 Church St. in downtown Decatur.B

Customizable donut concept Duck Donuts is opening its first Georgia shop. Based out of Harrisburg, PA, it will take up space in the Tuxedo Festival Shopping Center (3655 Roswell Rd.).B

Taco Mac is expanding to Henry County. The new freestanding restaurant opens this May in McDonoughbs South Point Shopping Center. Described in a press release as a bbrand new prototype,b it boasts 120 taps, 72 HDTVs and bwings on tap.b

Celebrated NYC chef Damon Wise of Sauvage and Maison Premiere has been named culinary director for Resurgens Hospitality Group (Restaurant Eugene, Holeman and Finch Public House, Hopbs Chicken).
